School board decisions a blow to west Louisville
The decision by the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) to build a new school in the upscale neighborhood of Norton Commons is yet another blow to the low-income and working-class families of west Louisville. The Black Alliance for Educational Options is saddened to see such a blatant disregard for this vulnerable community just weeks after the closing of Myers Middle School.
Symposium 2015 Update: Why Support Common Core?
Several of you attended the "Why Should I Support Common Core?" session at the 2014 BAEO Annual Symposium in New Orleans, LA. The session sparked great dialogue about the Common Core State Standards, how they were created, and the need for higher academic standards for all children.
