When A Haircut Changes Lives

Because of supporters like you, we've been able to
increase access to high-quality education options for low-income and
working-class Black families across the nation. Today, more of our
children are thriving in schools that are serving their academic needs
and bringing hope for families too often left behind.

Meet the husband-wife barbering team from West Orange, NJ

Benjamin and Betsy are very active in their West Orange, NJ community. Still,
the pair wanted to do more to help local students reach their full potential. That's when they teamed up with New Jersey BAEO to give free haircuts twice a month to students at West Side High School. Westside is
a traditional district school that serves West Ward in Newark. They believe when students look their best they will perform at their highest level.

The couple is also working to start an apprenticeship program where students gain hands-on experience being a barber.  In
addition to this program, progress is being made to establishing a food
pantry at the school for local families in need.

The future success of the students Benjamin and Betsy are working with depends on your continued support.

In the spirit of a season for giving, please consider a donation so we may continue the fight to grant all of our children access to a high-quality education.
